Lotus Elan

The last model in Lotus’ display at the Paris Auto Show is the Elan, a 2+2 sports car that will go on sale in the autumn of 2013 at a price of £75,000 ($118,000 at the current rates).

"If there was ever a car to make you drive the long way home, it's the Elan. Perfect for both road and track, the Elan not only ticks all the boxes, it creates new ones too. The Elan will convert people to Lotus, I would challenge people not to become addicted to driving it. It will also go a long way towards dispelling the old misconceptions about this class, that in order to have high performance you must sacrifice usability – those days are gone."

Lotus Eterne

Posted: 30 Sep 2010 11:46 AM PDT

Lotus made a step forward at this year’s Paris Auto Show with the unveiling of the company’s first hybrid four door super saloon. Called Eterne, the new model will go on sale in early 2015 and will be priced at £120,000 (around $190,000 at the current rates).

The 2015 Eterne’s powertrain will combine a 5,0 liter V8 engine with a hybrid gearbox with integrated electric motors and KERS. The total output of 620 HP and 720 NM of torque will help the Eterne to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 4 seconds and to hit a top speed of 195 mph.

"The Eterne is sensational to look and as with the rest of the range it also over delivers in all other aspects as well. Similar to the Elite, it's a car of perfect contradictions, it's compact yet spacious, high performing yet low emitting, relative lightweight yet still reassuringly solid. We truly believe that there is a market for the Eterne, there is nothing else like it out there both in terms of design, capacity and performance. The biggest difference between the Eterne and it's class competitors is that it's not an evolution of an existing two-door model, it's a deliberate and considered stand-alone creation. It's the ultimate four door sports car."

Lotus Elise

Posted: 30 Sep 2010 11:33 AM PDT

It seems that Lotus was pretty busy this year before the Paris Auto Show. Next to the new generation Esprit, Lotus will also bring the new Elise that will go on sale in 2015 at a price of £35,000 ($55,000 at the current exchange rates).

The 2015 Elise is powered by a 2,0 liter four-cylinder engine that delivers a total of 320 HP and 330 NM of torque. The engine is mated to the new start-stop technology and will sprint the car from 0 to 60 mph in 4,3 seconds. Top speed is 167 mph.

"The Elise you can buy now is still a fantastic car, make no mistake, Lotus remain very proud of it, but this is a natural progression for us moving forward. The Elise 2015 will also be class-leading in terms of performance and efficiency but it will do more than that it will take the Elise model to the forefront of its class across the board. The design of the Elise 2015 is perfect for the target market, it's young, strong, confident, verging on ruthless, it mirrors the engineering and technology. It's the next generation Elise for a new generation of Lotus drivers."

Citroen releases 'Dating 2.0' configurator to market the DS3

Posted: 29 Sep 2010 03:30 PM PDT

Though it's still not on the level of MINI's quirkiness, Citroen is definitely fast approaching that atmosphere, and if it keeps up its pace, it can seriously give the former a run for its money.

Channeling their inner matchmaker, Citroen has released a fun little match-up game on their website, where people, both male and female, are afforded the opportunity to build their perfect date. Yes, that includes face, body, and all the way down to the legs. As soon as you're done building the e-girl of your dreams, Citroen will then show you what the perfect car is for your perfect virtual date, which, based on the multiple times we worked on our myriad of fantasmical women, always seems to end up being the Citroen DS3.

Maybe the company's trying to tell us something here, like say, the DS3 is the car that can land you that dream date with the dream girl in real life.

McLaren MP4-12C prototypes testing in Arizona

Posted: 29 Sep 2010 02:00 PM PDT

It seems that McLaren is pretty busy preparing the market debut for their latest sports car, the MP4-12C. The MP4-12C may be getting its covers ripped off in Paris, but in the USA, 12 prototypes are being put to the test in the blazing heat of Arizona!

The prototypes are beating the roads between Lake Havasu City - where the team was based - and the town of Flagstaff, further west in Arizona in order to test the capability of the super car on a mixture of driving surfaces. During these tests, the McLaren has a 28-strong team of engineers, technicians, and vehicle development partners which alternated the test vehicles, running two VP cars and one XP car everyday and night over three weeks. We just hope that the prototypes were able to withstand the 155 degrees Fahrenheit Mother Nature was beating down on them!

In the USA, the MP4-12C will be sold in Beverly Hills, Chicago, Dallas, New York, San Francisco, Tampa Bay, Miami and Toronto. McLaren will also be announcing retailers for Newport Beach in Orange County, California, and Philadelphia very soon.

Hasselblad H4D Ferrari Edition

Posted: 29 Sep 2010 04:00 PM PDT

If you are a passionate photographer, or just looking for the perfect gift, then this latest collaboration between Ferrari and Hasselblad may just be for you. The H4D Ferrari camera carries all of the components for some fine photography, but it’s also finished in Ferrari’s unique color "rosso fuoco", and bears the legendary Racing Shield. And as with all unique items such as this one, the H4D Ferrari is limited with only 499 units scheduled for production.

The camera is first presented in an "exclusively designed and engineered box with a glass top." Yeah, only Ferrari would make the case just as pretty and unique as the camera. They even added the Ferrari Racing Shield to the outside of the box, just in case anyone questioned just how the customer rolls. Inside the "special" box are two different compartments; one to house the camera and the other for the 80mm lens and accessories. Each compartment is lined with a soft and rich material as to not damage this exclusive and pricey camera.

Dr. Larry Hansen, chairman and CEO of Hasselblad said "I am proud of the company’s achievements since the introduction of the newest generation of Hasselblad cameras, the H4 series, and feel very honored to be able to celebrate our success together with such a precious brand."

More details on the camera are to be released in October.
