| Porsche plans hybrid version for every model in the line-up Posted: 04 Oct 2010 04:00 PM PDT Are you ready for a hybrid 911 Turbo? You better be, as Porsche announced that every single model in its line-up will be offered with hybrid technology as an option. First we will see the Panamera borrowing the hybrid technology from the Cayenne, and after it the sports model will follow. The first sport car to feature a hybrid technology will be the production version of the 918 Spyder. It will feature a 500 hp V8 petrol engine with four electric motors that together will deliver an extra 218 HP. This will help the model to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds speeds and to hit a top speed of 205 mph. However, this model will be offered as a limited edition. As for the other models in the line-up, Heinz-Jakob Neusser, director of the Porsche-driving development, only said it will really happen, but he did not offered an exact date. | Posted: 04 Oct 2010 03:00 PM PDT Who is Xenatec? Is a German coachbuilder who announced plans for amazing cars for quite a long time now. But when they first said there will be a Maybach Coupe, we said: "well now this is a funny thought." But apparently they were serious about it, and now they have revealed their first work: a Maybach 57S Coupe version. Price? 675,000 Euro, without taxes (or $925,000 at the current exchange rates). The Mybach 57S is powered by a 6.0 liter V12 bi-turbo engine tuned to deliver an impressive 630 hp and over a 1000 Nm of torque. This will help the coupe to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 5 seconds and to hit a top speed of 170 mph. The exterior package includes new front and rear bumpers, a new air diffuser with integrated exhaust system and the B-Pillar moved 20 cm to the back of the car, offering more room for the passengers. The car is also offered with a full glass roof, bespoke interior and armored body for full protection. There will only be 100 units built, so if you are interested hurry up! | Posted: 04 Oct 2010 02:30 PM PDT Starting today the 2011 Sonata will get a new version: 2.0T, a model powered by a 2.0-liter Theta II turbocharged gasoline direct-injection (GDI) engine rated at 274 hp at 6,000 rpm and 269 lb-ft of torque from 1800-4500 rpm and mated to a a six-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC manual control. The 2.0T engine will be available on the SE and Limited trim level. The Sonata 2.0T will be distinguished from the regular version by a new panoramic sunroof, 18" hyper silver alloy wheels, dual exhaust system and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. This is the first Hyundai vehicle to have both GDI technology and a turbocharger. Sales will begin later this year. Updated 10/04/2010: Hyundai today announced prices for the 2011 Sonata 2.0T. Prices start at at $24,145 MSRP for the Sonata SE 2.0T and $27,045 for the Sonata Limited 2.0T. The 2.0T engine will be available on the SE and Limited trim level, with the 2.0T SE adding an upgraded fully automatic temperature control system, and the Limited adding the SE’s 18-inch hyper silver alloy wheels, dual exhaust, and steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. And today they did it again, this time they came with a new package based on a E350 CDI model. The aerodynamic package includes a carbon front lip, a carbon tail diffuser, a new radiator grill and a tail spoiler lip made in carbon fiber. The exterior package is finished by 20" multi-part light alloy rims with forged rim star. As for the engine modifications, the tuner is offering you two different possibilities. You can opt only for the ECU modification and you will get a total of 267 HP, or you can also ask for an aluminum made air to air intercooler that will get you to a total of 285 HP. Of course for different prices. The performance package is finished by a new coilover that is adjustable not only in height, but also in hardness – thus warranting for a safe road handling. | Ferrari releases more details regarding Ferrari World Abu Dhabi Posted: 04 Oct 2010 01:30 PM PDT While the entire auto world is fixated on the ongoing Paris Motor Show, it's still safe to say that there are other items worth talking about outside of Paris. One of which is the highly anticipated opening of Ferrari World Abu Dhabi. The grand opening of the Ferrari-themed amusement park won't be until November, but management has announced that the park will open a few days earlier for a short Inaugural Period on October 27 at 7 pm. According to Claus Frimand, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi's General Manager, the early sneak peek opening of the theme park will give visitors a chance to enjoy the spectacle that is Ferrari World ahead of schedule. "We are on schedule to open the park with a wide selection of rides and attractions," he said. "We have managed to turn one of the world’s most exclusive brands into an extraordinary experience which families and fans will come back for time and time again." | 2012 Ford Focus Pricing Information Posted: 04 Oct 2010 12:30 PM PDT We sure do love leaked information. If you need to keep a secret, don't tell the people who work in the automotive industry. The recently unveiled 2012 Focus won't be going on sale until late 2011, but we already have a rough idea of its pricing information. The base S sedan will cost around $16,270, while the SE trim level will raise that price to $17,270. The SEL model, which adds Sync, ambient lighting and 16-inch alloy wheels will cost $20,270. The high-roller Titanium Focus will cost $22,270. That might seem a bit high for a Focus, but don't forget that this model comes with MyFord Touch, a Sony audio system, sport seats and 17-inch sport alloy wheels. The hatchback versions will cost a tad more than the sedans. The SE, SEL and Titanium models will run $18,065, $21,065 and $22,765. If you want your Focus loaded to the hill, then you need the Titanium Premium Package that adds rain-sensing wipers, leather seats, reverse sensing system and more. All that can be yours for just $1,295. While this information isn't official, if you look hard enough on the Ford website, you will find it. It's clear that the price of a Focus has gone up, but so has the quality and the design. It will be offered in two engine versions, and prices will be £16,545 for the 1.6-liter petrol and £17,845 for the 1.6-liter TDCi. The new Focus Sport will be distinguished by satellite navigation with European mapping, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, voice control, parking distance sensors, 16-in ST-style alloy wheels, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and self-dimming rear-view mirror. It will be offered in six exterior colors, while the interior will get Titanium seat fabric "New York Ebony". "We wanted to create a stylish and practical package which represented outstanding value for money, and the Focus Sport delivers that. Though not as popular as Top Gear – it certainly can't boast of the cult-like following Clarkson and the boys currently enjoy these days – Fifth Gear is no stranger to plucking ex-Top Gear hosts and bringing them into their show with Collins being the third ex-Top Gear star to jump onboard the Fifth Gear boat following Tiff Needell and Vickie Butler-Henderson. Steve Gowans, the head of Channel 5's factual entertainment division, couldn't contain his excitement in having the controversial Collins in Fifth Gear. | Posted: 04 Oct 2010 11:00 AM PDT The German tuner MTM has unveiled today details on their second package for the Audi TT-RS sports car. While the first one was impressive with its 424 HP, this one is simply amazing: the tuner managed to squeeze an impressive 472 HP from the TT-RS’ engine. For that the tuner made modifications of the control unit and added a MTM turbo charger and a complete new MTM exhaust system from turbo. The result? 472 HP with 7.000 rpm, a sprint from 0 to 60 mph made in just 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 193 mph - driven in Nardo with Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres on 20-inch bimoto wheels. The price for the engine upgrade is 14.500€. If you will also opt for the 20-inch bimoto forged rims and the 15-inch brakes with eight-piston calipers you will have to pay an extra 9.973 €.
