| Mercedes S250 CDI BlueEfficiency Posted: 01 Oct 2010 04:00 PM PDT Mercedes has unveiled at the Paris Auto Show the S 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY, the world’s most fuel-efficient luxury sedan. It is powered by four-cylinder turbo engine that delivers 204 HP and 500 NM of torque and delivers a total of 5,7 liters engine per 100 kilometers. The car sprints from 0 to 60 mph in just 8,2 seconds and can hit a top speed of 150 mph. The engine is mated to ECO start/stop system. This system shuts down the engine as soon as the vehicle comes to a stop – e.g. at traffic lights – and the driver continues to press the brake pedal while it is stationary. The engine starts again immediately as soon as the driver releases the brake pedal or presses the accelerator pedal. The ECO start/stop function will not switch the engine off for example if the desired interior temperature has yet to be reached, if the driver has switched off the system or if drive programmes "S" or "M" are active. An intelligent control system ensures that all functions and comfort systems otherwise remain in operation during the stop phase. Press release after the jump. | Posted: 25 Aug 2010 09:30 PM PDT Chevrolet unveiled the Orlando concept at the 2008 Paris Auto Show two years ago. This concept was their first seven-seat multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), and now, at the same show, the company will unveil the production version Orlando. Sales in Europe will begin in early 2011. The production version will receive a lower roofline and a crossover inspired silhouette, but it will also get a recognizable Chevrolet ’face’ that is illustrated by the split radiator grille and bow-tie badge. The interior of the car will also feature a Corvette inspired dual cockpit and ambient blue backlighting in the center console. Under the hood there will be a choice of three of Chevrolet’s latest fuel efficient engines: a 1.8 liter gasoline engine with power output of 141 hp and two diesel units, the latest version of Chevrolet’s 2.0 liter engine with outputs of 131hp (low output) or 163 hp (high output). | Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale Posted: 01 Oct 2010 02:30 PM PDT Maserati may err on the side of of caution when choosing between luxury and speed, but eventually speed-loving fanatics have no choice but to reveal their road-gripping, fire-breathing side. Alas, we now have evidence of Maserati’s wild side. Just a couple of weeks before the Italian luxury brand was set to unveil their new special edition Gran Turismo at the Paris Auto Show, the company has jumped the gun and released the first official details of the fastest, lightest, and most powerful Maserati in the line-up. We hope everyone is just as intrigued as we were because this is a side of Maserati that should come out more often. The special edition is called the GranTurismo MC Stradale and is due to go on sale in Europe in the first quarter of 2011 with a U.S. launch shortly thereafter. It is powered by a 4.2 liter V8 engine that delivers 450 HP - an improvement over the standard 405 HP - while still offering the same fuel consumption as a standard Gran Turismo. It also comes with an improved aerodynamic down force and will brake the 186 mph barrier. Inspired by the Trofeo GranTurismo MC and the race-winning GT4 motorsport models, the Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale special edition has been tweaked and modified as a direct result of the lessons learned from Maserati’s three racing programs. But what makes this vehicle even better is that it’s road legal. More details about the car will be released closer to its official unveiling. Updated 10/01/2010: Maserati has unveiled new images revealing the car’s interior and also a new video of the car. Check them out! Press release after the jump.
